Purpose: More people are interested in participating in the Liturgy of the Hours and there are a variety of formats in English and Latin. The following booklets were prepared following the Liber usualis (Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Solesmes 1960) and are for individual parish/chapel use. Please feel free to download and modify for use within your parish. The instructions indicate the alternation between cantors and all in the congregation, which can be changed as needed (e.g., alternate gospel side and epistle side).
The following video is a unique example of sung Vespers incorporating Monteverdi Vespers of 1610, for your listening pleasure. This Solemn Vespers and Benediction was held on Saturday November 15, 2014 at Holy Comforter - St. Cyprian Catholic Church, Washington, DC. Music was provided by Third Practice in collaboration with Chorus Sine Nomine. Music also includes Beatis videamus by Joshua Bornfield.
